Celebrate Thai Full Moon ‘Loy Krathong’ Festival with Patara London

‘Loy’ meaning floating
‘Krathong’ A raft made from banana leaves and a piece of banana tree trunk as a base.

An ancient belief has been carried on over a thousand years, since the Kingdom of Sukhothai, and every year as a Thai traditional ceremony to pay respects to water spirits and thank them for their bounty.

On the full moon of the 12th lunar month, Thais head out to local rivers and lakes to float banana leaf rafts, loaded with cargos of flowers, incense and candles as well as the prayers hopes and dreams of their owners.

At Patara, we have hand-crafted a mini Krathong to let our guests fully experience the festival alongside perfect Thai cuisine dining and indulge in Loy Krathong inspired Thai cocktails.

Celebrate the full moon this November with our specially commissioned cocktails.

Thai Sabai: Sour, bitter and refreshing. A comfortable and happy cocktail with a Mekhong Thai spirit base, blended with lemon juice, sweet basil and syrup, finished with a garnish of sweet basil leaves.
Thai Twist: A traditionally based cocktail with a sweet, punchy and aromatic Thai twist. Monsoon Valley Shiraz, complimented by orange liqueur and brandy, punchy ginger ale, sweet lemonade, orange and cucumber slices and garnished with mint, orange and cucumber.

Both cocktails are available from 1st – 30th November 2018
